Introduction to Photography (Apr)

This is an evening course held at our Clarendon Sixth Form campus, designed to introduce adult learners to the art and craft of photography. Ran over 10 weeks at 2 hours a week on a Tuesday evening 6pm-8pm commencing on January 28th 2025, you will gain practical skills and explore creative approaches to image-making.

Throughout the course, you will complete the following units:

●  Use a Camera to Capture Creative Images: Develop technical confidence in using a camera, understanding manual settings, and mastering lighting and composition to create impactful photographs.

●  Digital Image Manipulation: Learn to enhance and refine your images using professional editing software, including colour correction, retouching, and applying creative effects.

This course combines hands-on practical sessions, in-class discussions, and individual feedback to ensure a rewarding and engaging learning experience.
This course is perfect for adults looking to develop a creative outlet or enhance their photography skills for personal or professional use. Unique features include:

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. All you need is enthusiasm for photography and a desire to learn.
You will be assessed through:

●  Practical assignments, including capturing creative images using a camera.

●  Digital editing projects that demonstrate your ability to manipulate and enhance photographs.

●  A small portfolio submission at the end of the course.

This is a pass/fail course designed to give you practical skills and creative confidence.
On successful completion of this qualification, you can progress onto:

●  Progress to higher-level photography courses.

●  Pursue freelance or hobbyist photography.

●  Apply your skills in related fields, such as graphic design or social media content creation.

You are unemployed, seeking work and in receipt of a means tested benefit.
Or economically inactive – (GM Residents only). If you are unemployed and seeking work, but are not in receipt of a means tested benefit.

You receive a means tested benefit accepted by the college; are working less than 20 hours per week and have an income of £892 per month (individual claims) or £1,437 per month (household claims).
OR,
You earn less than £25,000 annual gross salary
AND the course you are studying will help you find or improve your employment
