Level 3 Carpentry

This full-time advanced course builds on the skills and knowledge developed at Level 2, preparing learners for work as a qualified Site Carpenter. It focuses on advanced techniques and a deeper understanding of site carpentry practices within the construction industry. Learners will be trained in line with industry expectations, with an emphasis on both technical ability and health and safety.

The course includes:

- Health, safety and welfare in construction

- First fix flooring and roofing

- Second fixing operations

- First fix roofing and stairs

- Using fixed and transportable machinery

- Principles of organising, planning and pricing construction work

Learning takes place through a combination of classroom instruction, guided practice in industry-standard workshops, and project-based assessments.
This qualification is ideal for learners wishing to develop their practical and theoretical knowledge of advanced site carpentry. Learners will:

- Undertake complex carpentry tasks including roofing structures, staircases, and second fixing

- Develop skills in organising, estimating, and planning construction work

- Use industry tools and machinery safely and effectively

- Work towards meeting standards set by the construction industry’s occupational standards
- Level 2 Diploma in Site , Architectural Joinery, Fitted Furniture or equivalent experience in the construction sector.

- Maths and English GCSE 4/C above

- Interview and skills assessment to confirm suitability for the Level 3 course.

- A strong interest in pursuing a professional career in construction.
- Assessment includes multiple-choice tests and practical assignments set by City & Guilds.

- Learners must complete all assessments, which include:

●  7 multiple choice tests (Units 201/601, 207, 209, 301/701, 306, 307, 308)

●  Practical assignments assessed internally and verified by City & Guilds

- All assessments are graded Pass/Fail.

- Learners must pass all components to be awarded the Level 3 Diploma.
On successful completion of the course, learners can progress to:

- Craft Site Carpenter, Craft Architectural Joiner Apprenticeship ST063

- Employment as a site carpentry improver

- Higher Apprenticeships or construction management courses

- Specialist areas within construction including roofing, staircases, or project supervision
