Level 2 Brickwork

This full-time study programme provides learners with the practical skills and knowledge to start a career as a bricklayer in the construction industry. The course follows the City & Guilds Level 2 Extended Technical Occupational Entry in Bricklaying (Diploma), which is aligned with the Bricklayer Occupational Standard (ST0095).

You will study six core units:

Health and safety in a construction environment

Principles of welfare, health and safety in construction

Principles of working in the construction industry

Setting out buildings

Building solid walls and piers

Building cavity walls

The course is taught through a mix of theory and practical sessions in industry-standard workshops. You will take part in practical assignments and multiple-choice online examinations, all of which must be passed to achieve the qualification.

The course is assessed through a combination of online multiple-choice exams and internally marked practical assignments.
This course is ideal if you enjoy hands-on work and are looking for a practical career in construction. Bricklayers play a vital role in shaping the built environment, and this course will give you the foundational skills required for success in the industry.

Gain your CSCS 'Green Card' by completing the Health and Safety unit, allowing access to live construction sites.

Develop your understanding of sustainability in construction and safe site practices.
· 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above

· Level 1 Brickwork qualification

You will be interviewed for this course and should show an interest in practical construction work, classroom studies and a willingness to follow strict health and safety protocols.
· Externally set and marked multiple-choice exams for theoretical units.

· Practical assignment set by City & Guilds and marked internally with external verification.

· You must pass all assessment components, including:

· 4 multiple-choice exams

· A 14-hour practical skills assignment

· All assessments are graded Pass/Fail, and successful completion of all components is required to be awarded the full diploma.
After completing this course, you could progress to:

· Level 3 Diploma in Brickwork (if available)

· Bricklaying Apprenticeship

· Employment in the construction industry as a trainee bricklayer

· Specialist areas such as restoration or heritage masonry with further training
