IT Digital Discovery
Course content & format
This is a 6 week non-accredited part time programme, which you will need to attend once a week. There are no exams for this course. The course is aimed at building confidence, skills and is an ideal platform to start your IT journey. You will learn through a variety of teaching methods which will aim to meet the needs of each individual and accommodate different learning styles for example: computer based, hands on tasks, case studies, practical work and interactive activities.
Throughout the course you will study the following:
Understand the basics of online safety
Able to browse the Internet and add a bookmark to a website
Able to copy; paste; Insert and edit text or images
Able to open; create; edit; insert attachments in an email
Your learning experience
If you are interested in increasing your online safety awareness and beginner IT skills then this course is for you. IT has become a part of our daily lives, and this course is designed to building confidence and giving you an awareness of how to use a computer safely online along with carrying our basic computer tasks for example sending an email, adding an attachment, downloading a file, cropping and inserting pictures or files. This course is designed to be the first step on that exciting journey to digital confidence.
Entry qualifications
Have very basic knowledge of IT
- No formal entry requirements needed.
You will need to take an initial IT assessment that will help us place you on the correct course.
How is this course assessed?
You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods including discussions, case studies, presentations and practical learning.
What can I do next?
On successful completion of this qualification, you can progress onto:
Entry 3 Essential Digital Skills Qualification.
Employment that requires you to be familiar with computers.

These courses are tailored for adult learners, no matter your employment status, but if you are: -Not in paid employment and receive means tested benefit: please bring with you current dated benefit documentation. -In paid employment but an annual gross salary of less than £25,000: please bring your wage slips dated within 3 months of the start of the course
