Introduction into working in Health & Social Care
This qualification is intended to provide learners with an introduction to the health and care sector, equipping learners with underpinning knowledge specific to the sector alongside a range of transferable employability skills. They are designed to support progression to further learning and ultimately to work in health and care or other related sectors.
This is a part time course. (6 weeks - 4 hours per week)
Throughout the course you will study 3 units in total. These include:
· Introduction into working in Health & Care
· Introduction into effective communication in Health & Care
· Employability skills in Health & care
If you are interested in making a difference to people’s lives with a rewarding career in Health and Social Care then this is the introduction course for you. Health and Social Care dominates our lives. You could be looking to work with older people, young people, people with learning disabilities or within the NHS, and this qualification could be the first step on that exciting journey. Health and Social Care courses provide broad based learning around the physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs of individuals of all ages preparing you for a variety of career pathways including nursing, midwifery, social work and youth work. This qualification will give you the knowledge and skills to move forward towards your goal.
· You will gain sector specific knowledge and experience from guest speakers
· Enrichment opportunities will also be available for you to access
- L2 ESOL or functional skills English
· You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods including discussions, displays, case studies & written work
· This is a pass/fail course
On successful completion of this qualification, you can progress onto:
· Entry Level 3 Award in Health and Care

These courses are tailored for adult learners, no matter your employment status, but if you are: -Not in paid employment and receive means tested benefit: please bring with you current dated benefit documentation. -In paid employment but an annual gross salary of less than £25,000: please bring your wage slips dated within 3 months of the start of the course
