This is a part time study programme delivered 21/1/25 – 20/05/25 on a Tuesday afternoon from 14:00 – 17:00 hours. You will learn the basics of network design principles, models and scalable networks to enhance growth strategies. You will gain the knowledge and skills to be able to successfully install, operate and troubleshoot a small network. You will be well placed to understand the operation of IP data networks, router, switching technologies, IP routing technologies, IP servicing and trouble shooting techniques.
You will examine the impact and role of networks for enterprise, for example, the requirement of a reliable network and common network attacks and trends. You will assimilate the purpose and benefits of various communication mediums, working practice, commercial opportunities and information sharing strategies. You will explore networking software including firewalls and operating systems, selection of server types and workstations.
You will develop the skills-set to design efficient network systems including users, quality expectations and system growth, services, applications, communication types, selection of components and security considerations. You will be able to implement and diagnose networked systems including system monitoring, network automations, maintenance schedule, diagnosing and resolving layer 1 problems, policy reviews and service level agreements.
Throughout the course you will study a variety of learning outcomes. These include:
Examine networking principles and their protocols, explain networking devises and operations, design efficient networks systems and implement and diagnose networked systems.
