Role: Bricklayer
Location: Woodley South Manchester (looking for applicants local to Gee Cross/Woodley - potential car share available if successful)
Hours: 40 hours per week (including one day at college)
Salary: £8:00 per hour Programme
Duration: 24 months plus End Point Assessment (EPA)
College Day: Every Monday 8:00am start at Tameside College, Ashton-under-Lyne
Overview of the company/role: The company is a Construction Company based in Stockport. They pride themselves on quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. The Director is hands on throughout the project from first consultation to the final handover, with no stone left unturned. You will learn how to lay bricks and blocks to drawings and specifications, prepare mortar, and ensure work is aligned and finished to a high standard. This is a hands-on, practical apprenticeship, with most of your time spent on site learning directly from experienced bricklayers. Ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, being active, and seeing tangible results from their work.
Where you will work:
• Refurbishment projects
• New build housing developments
• Projects across South Manchester and surrounding areas
Work is mainly outdoors and can involve working at height.
As an apprentice, you will learn how to:
• Lay bricks and blocks to drawings and specifications
• Prepare, mix and apply mortar correctly
• Set out work and check alignment using hand tools and levels
• Use damp-proof materials appropriately
• Assist in constructing and repairing masonry structures
• General labouring duties including tidying and preparing the site
• Moving, stacking and passing bricks to the team
• Gather and maintain tools and equipment
• Maintain a clean and organised work area
• Follow all health, safety and environmental regulations
• Work collaboratively with site teams and other trades
You will also have the opportunity to observe other trades on site to understand the full sequence of construction projects.

This apprenticeship is a brilliant opportunity for someone looking to develop hands-on skills, gain industry experience, and start a long-term career in bricklaying. After completion there could be progression opportunities for L3 Bricklayer, Site Supervisor or construction management pathways.
About You (Essential Attributes) While no previous experience is required, the ideal candidate will demonstrate:
• Genuine interest in construction and bricklaying
• Good work ethic and willingness to learn
• Physically fit and prepared for outdoor work
• Ideally holds a driving licence (due to site travel) or
• Local to Gee Cross/Woodley considered (car share opportunity may be available)
