Tameside College hosts residents evening for new build

Tameside College hosted a residents evening in their on-site restaurant, Reflections to give people living locally to the college more information about the Advanced Technologies Centre, which opened in September this year.

The new centre completes the first phase of the college’s, ‘Vision Tameside’ plan and is integral to developing apprenticeships and Higher Education in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) to support increased demand for higher level skills in the engineering sector within Greater Manchester.

During the evening, guests sampled delicious canapés made by food studies students whilst enjoying a presentation about the Advanced Technologies Centre and future ‘Vision Tameside’ plans and then a tour.

Jackie Moores, Principal at Tameside College, said: “The Advanced Technologies Centre offers state-of-the-art training and education facilities as part of the, ‘Vision Tameside’ strategy with our partner Tameside Council. It provides a once in a lifetime opportunity to develop the best educational estate in Greater Manchester for our learners. We have worked in partnership with employers from the engineering, computing and finance sectors to ensure the curriculum and high specification technical equipment meets the future skills needs in Greater Manchester, in line with the GM Combined Authority, ‘Work & Skills Priorities’. This enables our current and future students to access the very best jobs and apprenticeships available. It’s an amazing building to study, train and work in.”
