Employer recognition at Tameside College annual awards

M J Melia Brickwork were presented with the ‘Business of the Year’ award at Tameside College’s annual Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 27th February, 2019.

Mike Melia, owner of M J Melia Brickwork was recognised for his commitment to supporting apprentices.

Steve Astley, apprenticeship assessor at Tameside College, said: “Mike always ensures he takes time to sit down with his apprentices and fully discuss their progress and supports them with their studies. Mike provides excellent training for all of his apprentices and they always come away with excellent knowledge of the industry.”

Mike Melia commented: “I am pleased to receive recognition relating to the apprentices I employ. I currently employ three apprentices who are a credit to themselves.

“Tameside College have been great to work with throughout the apprenticeships. They have given valuable advice and guidance throughout the whole process. The assessors and teachers at the College have amazing knowledge of the industry.

“Employing apprentices really has worked for my business. I am glad I can play a small part, alongside Tameside College, in helping create a skilled local workforce.”
