Smiles all round for apprentices despite lockdown

Dental surgery takes on three new apprentices with Tameside College, despite period of lockdown.

Simply One Dental, which has practices in Ashton and Droylsden, has employed three new dental nurse apprentices to train.

The apprentices will now start working to prepare the practices for re-opening in the coming days, for emergency appointments. They will be also be supported by their college assessors during online teaching sessions.

Taufeeq Shah, the owner of Simply One Dental, and several other practices across the region, currently has six apprentices completing their training with Tameside College and has been working with the college for several years. In 2019, Taufeeq and his team won the ‘business of the year’ award, at the college’s apprenticeship awards.

Ragjit Kaur, apprenticeship assessor at Tameside College, said: “We are delighted that Taufeeq and his team have decided to yet again take on more apprentices, despite the current lockdown situation and economic worries. It shows that they are looking to the future and striving to train young people in their trade. Simply One Dental have always been very helpful and supportive with their apprentices and I can’t think of anyone better to train the next generation of dental nurses.”
