Industry expert visits access to higher education students at Tameside College to help them put their learning into practice.
Rick Miles, an education officer and sonographer for GE Health, visited students studying on the science and allied medical professions course at the college, to demonstrate a range of ultrasound equipment.
During the session, Rick described his path to becoming a sonographer and the various routes students can take into the industry. Students also had the opportunity to perform an ultrasound scan, to improve their practical knowledge and skills.
Susan Shercliff, head of access to higher education at Tameside College, said: “Rick’s visit to the college was extremely beneficial to the students as they gained valuable experience that others may not have access to. Rick has a wealth of experience in healthcare and it was very useful for the students to see what they could achieve in the future.”
