Proudly supporting colleges week 2023

Tameside College is supporting and taking part in national ‘colleges week 2023’.

Colleges week is a campaign which is organised annually by the Association of Colleges (AoC) to promote and highlight the public about the important role colleges and sixth form colleges play in training the future workforce and raising students’ aspirations.

The campaign will take place over two weeks, with a focus on how colleges support local skills and life chances during the first week and a look at how they support the UK economy as a whole during the second.

Tameside College has a wide variety of activities and events planned during the campaign including: Tameside jobs fair at Dukinfield town hall, an ‘explore’ careers event at Great Academy Ashton, Schaeffler RepXpert roadshow and open events at all sites on Saturday 14th October.

The college will also be promoting some of its star students’ successes; such as Harrison Turner, a former construction student who is now a project manager with Willmott Dixon. Harrison was chosen to be Tameside College’s ‘GM alumni of the year’ winner for 2023. He has regularly visited the college to conduct talks and skills sessions with students and even worked on the building of the college’s new construction skills centre.

Jackie Moores, principal and CEO of Tameside College and Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “Colleges week highlights the extremely important role that colleges play in our society and the hugely positive work they do to improve people’s lives every day. We are proud as a college to be taking part in this and for the opportunity to share our amazing student success stories.”
