Health, social care and early years students hosted a Christmas market event at the college on Thursday 12th December, to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

The event, which was attended by students and staff, raised £1190 for the charity, which conducts research into heart conditions and other related diseases, alongside support the families of those who are affected by them.

The Christmas market included a variety of stalls such as raffles, handmade Christmas gifts, wreaths made by floristry students, guess the number of sweets, paired with festive party music.

Students regularly organise events such as this to help them develop key skills like confidence and teamwork, alongside raising the much needed funds.

Joanne Beresford, head of department for health, social care and early years, said: “The Christmas market was a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their creativity, teamwork, and community spirit, which they certainly did. They worked incredibly hard to organise such a successful event and we are proud to support the British Heart Foundation in their vital work. Thank you to everyone who came to the markets and helped us to raise such an amazing amount!”
