Apprentices and employers celebrated during annual awards

Tameside College celebrates the achievements of apprentices and employers with awards ceremony.

The college’s annual apprenticeship awards evening took place in the lead up to National Apprenticeship Week 2026 on Tuesday 3rd February, at Dukinfield Town Hall.

Apprentices were joined by their families and friends for the special occasion, alongside employers, members of the college’s senior leadership team and guest of honour Gert Rohrmann, Training and Development Manager at Siemens.

Apprentice winners, who were rewarded for their hard work and success included Amber King, who has progressed from All Saints Catholic College to a dental nursing apprenticeship at Eagle House Dental.

Another apprentice who received an award was Olivia Williams, who is now working as a carpentry and joinery apprentice with Jigsaw Homes, after progressing from high school.

Employers were also presented with Train Tameside 500 ‘champion’ awards. Train Tameside 500 is a boroughwide initiative led by Tameside College to create 500 training and employment opportunities through a partnership between local industry, further education and Tameside Council, boosting the local economy and developing the borough’s workforce.

Bridge Construction North West Ltd, one of the new employer champions, were praised for supporting apprentices from the college and investing in the growth of their careers.

The awards ceremony forms part of the college’s National Apprenticeship Week 2026 celebrations, which aim to highlight the benefits of apprenticeships to potential students and employers.

Throughout the week, which begins on Monday 9th February, Tameside College has organised a variety of activities for students and employers. Apprenticeship success stories will also be shared throughout the week.

Carl Shaw, assistant principal, said: “It was fantastic to see so many apprentices, employers and partners come together during the apprenticeship awards event, all playing a vital role in shaping the future of skills and training across Tameside. Through our new Train Tameside 500 initiative, we are working closely with employers to offer expert support across apprenticeships, T-levels, work placements, funding and innovation. Apprenticeships and skills training are the backbone of both our local and national economy, creating life changing opportunities for individuals while giving businesses the workforce they need to grow and succeed. I would like to congratulate all of the apprentices and employers who received awards during the event; their hard work, dedication and achievements are a real credit to themselves and the industries they represent.”

Tameside College offers a wide range of apprenticeships in a variety of subject areas. To find out more visit the college website or call 0161 908 6600.
