New employers inducted as Train Tameside 500 ‘champions’ at Tameside College Apprenticeship Awards event at Dukinfield Town Hall.
The Train Tameside 500 campaign, which aims increase the number of apprenticeships and training opportunities in Tameside, received another boost as seventeen new employers joined the recruitment initiative.
The employers from different sectors from across Tameside, were nominated for their enthusiasm towards apprenticeship training and delivering work experience placements. Their advocacy will be used in the campaign to encourage other employers to recruit apprentices.
Carl Shaw, assistant principal, Tameside College said: “Since the launch of Train Tameside 500 in October 2025 there has been a lot of interest from local employers about the campaign. The new champions are great role models for similar employers in the diverse economic sectors in Tameside. The champions have an authentic message that encourages other employers to think about what is possible and how they can develop their workforce whilst boosting the local economy.”
Daniel Bowden, director at Bridge Builders North West Ltd and newly inducted TT500 champion, said: “Being recognised as a TT500 Champion is a huge honour for us, as it represents our commitment to doing things properly, investing in people and building for the long term. As a growing construction company, this recognition reassures us that the time and effort we put into training and development is making a real difference. Sustainability is at the heart of what we do and with a real skills shortage in construction, we believe businesses have a responsibility to invest in the next generation.”
The Apprenticeship Awards ceremony also celebrated the achievements of over twenty apprentices to create a very special occasion for the trainees, parents, teachers and employers.
