Tameside College business students celebrate after reaching the finals of the ‘Pitch Battle’ competition, hosted by UA92 and NatWest Bank.
Pitch Battle is an annual business competition for 16-18 business students. Held at Old Trafford Football Stadium, the event was attended by 20 colleges, with up to 4,000 students competing in the earlier stages of the competition.
Students were selected as finalists in the competition after impressing judges with their idea for an app, ‘Vibe Night’, to help young people attend events safely.
The final took place on Tuesday 27th January, where students pitched their ideas to industry professionals, with students claiming 2nd place in the group category.
Nana Takyiwaa, a level 3 student, was also named best overall for outstanding contribution, whilst Isaiah Kamara, a level 2 student, received the runner up prize for outstanding contribution.
The event formed a vital part of students’ studies, giving them valuable experience of presenting ideas to real business professionals and developing confidence, communication and employability skills. As part of the event students also received mentorship from NatWest Bank on the art of pitching business ideas.
Catherine Morgan, business teacher at Tameside College, said: “This was an amazing opportunity for our students to excel and they all did an amazing job. The organisers from UA92 could not have given any higher praise for how professional the students were and how difficult it was to choose a winner on the day. All of the students involved were an absolute asset to the college. Well done to them on their performance.”
