Tameside College cutting bills with Great British Energy solar panels

Tameside College is benefitting from lower energy bills thanks to Great British Energy funded solar panels, as installation is completed.

As part of the scheme by Great British Energy and the UK government, the college is one of around 250 schools and colleges across England to receive its share of up to £255 million in funding to install solar panels across school and college rooftops to help power classrooms and workshops with cleaner, greener energy.

Alongside other energy efficiency measures, the solar panels will help to save money on energy bills and redirect savings into learners’ education from textbooks, technology, specialist equipment and teaching.

Jackie Moores, principal and CEO at Tameside College, said: “Installing solar panels through the Great British Energy scheme is an important step in our commitment to reducing our impact on the environment while also lowering our energy costs. The savings we make can be reinvested directly into the college to benefit our learners, from enhancing learning resources to supporting their overall experience. The project also helps raise awareness of green skills among our students and we are pleased to be working with partners to develop courses that will equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for the growing green economy.”
