Tameside College students host e-Sports tournament to gain vital experience of the industry.
E-Sports students at the college recently hosted a ‘summer showdown’ event, welcoming staff and students from across the college to take part in a variety of exciting gaming activities and tournaments.
The event was organised by the students as part of their studies into planning and managing e-sports tournaments. Over the past four months, students have worked together to coordinate and deliver the summer showdown, developing valuable skills in event management, teamwork, communication and organisation.
Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed a range of interactive activities including virtual reality gaming experiences, Mario Kart tournaments and FC26 matches. Food and drinks were also provided to.
Activities such as this give students the opportunity to prepare for a career in their chosen industry and are a valuable part of their studies, providing hands on experience outside of a classroom setting.
Jordan Martins, e-sports teacher at Tameside College, said: “It was fantastic to see so many staff and students getting involved in the Summer Showdown event and enjoying all of the activities on offer. Our students have worked incredibly hard over the past few months to plan and deliver the event, and it was great to see all of that effort come together so successfully.”
