VIPs witness Tameside College public services students celebrating annual ‘passing out parade’.
The ceremony took place at the college’s Beaufort Road site on Friday 12th June, to award students from level one up to level three for their dedication and hard work during their studies.
Attendees included chief whip of the house of commons Jonathan Reynolds MP, mayor of Tameside councillor Helen Bowden and her consort, Tameside district commander for Greater Manchester Police chief superintendent Shan Nasim, representatives from the navy, army, royal marines, college governors, staff and students’ relatives.
During the ceremony, a variety of awards were presented to students by the VIP guests, including: fitness and endeavour, teamwork and leadership, the college governors’ award and best overall student award, which was presented to Kaitlin Ten-Pierick, in recognition of their hard work and dedication.
For level three students, the ceremony marks the end of their studies with the college and the next step in their career journeys.
Jackie Moores, principal and CEO at Tameside College and Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “As a college we are incredibly proud of our students who have achieved so much during their studies and been recognised as such. The passing out parade makes me very proud each year and it’s a visible display of how far they all have come as young people. It was a great honour for the attending VIPs to meet our students and I hope it inspired them, before they head into a career in public service.”
