Level 3 Barbering (Part Time)
Course content & format
To complete this course there are 5 units. For each unit you will sit an exam and complete a variety of practical assessments; you must pass all the exams and assessments to gain the qualification. You will learn through a variety of teaching methods which will aim to meet the needs of each individual and accommodate different learning styles for example, case studies, assessments, group work, practical work, assignment writing and interactive activities.
Throughout the course you will study 5 units in total. These include:
● Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
● Consultation support for colleagues
● Cut men’s hair to create a variety of looks
● Cut facial hair to create a variety of looks
● Provide shaving and face massage services
Your learning experience
You will start your journey in one of our training salons, building up to working on clients whilst keeping up to date with ever emerging trends.. This course will, in addition, help develop your confidence and communication skills, especially when working with unfamiliar people, such as new clients.
The course consists of a mixture of theory and practical session. Theory sessions underpin all essential knowledge needed to keep you ahead. Advanced practical sessions allow you to learn new skills whilst developing and advancing on previous skills.
Entry qualifications
Level 2 (Intermediate)
- 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above.
Level 2 Barbering/Hairdressing
You will be interviewed for this course. You should be enthusiastic about working in the barbering sector.
How is this course assessed?
You are required to produce a portfolio of evidence. You will be continually assessed through:
● Verbal questioning
● Assignments
● External paper/online tests
● Practical observations.
The course is graded pass, merit or distinction.
What can I do next?
On successful completion of this qualification you can progress onto:
● An apprenticeship
● Salon employee/employer
● Mobile
● Cruise ships
● Progress onto other hair courses (L1/2 hairdressing).
