Maths Entry 3 Functional Skills

This is a part-time study programme. You will be assessed regularly throughout the course and take a final exam at the end of the course; you must pass the final exam to gain the qualification. You will learn through a variety of teaching methods which will aim to meet the needs of each individual and accommodate different learning styles for example, group work, practical work, homework, classroom activities, extended work and interactive activities.

Throughout the course you will study for the full qualification. These are broken down into different categories:

Basics of using numbers and the number system, whole numbers, fractions, using common measures, shapes and space, handling information and data by using graphs and charts
If you are interested in using maths in daily life, home and/or work, then this is the course for you. It can help you to improve your household finances, help children with homework, make more sense of the stats and facts in the media, or improve your numeracy skills specific to your line of work. People who improve their essential skills (maths skills) have a greater chance in gaining employment, greater earning potential, improve their health and well-being, and will be more able to progress to higher levels of education and more likely to secure a skilled job in our local economy.

This academic qualification will give you the knowledge and skills to move forward towards your goal.
Maths Entry 2 or equivalent- although no formal qualification is required, you will be assessed to ensure you are placed at the correct level.
You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods including quizzes, worksheet assessments, questioning and practice/mock examinations.

There will be a final examination at the end of the course.
