Maths Level 2 Functional Skills

This is a part-time study programme. You will be assessed throughout the course culminating in a final exam; you must pass the final exams to gain the qualification. You will learn through a variety of teaching methods which will aim to meet the needs of each individual and accommodate different learning styles for example, group work, practical work, homework, classroom activities, extended work and interactive activities.

Throughout the course you will study the following areas of maths:

Using numbers and the number system, whole numbers, fractions, ratios, decimals and percentages, using common measures, shapes and space, handling information and data by using graphs and charts in details.
If you are interested to understand and use maths in daily life, home and/or work, then this is the course for you. Whether that be improving household finances, helping children with homework, making more sense of the stats and facts in the media, or improving numeracy skills specific to your line of work. People who improve their numeracy skills are more likely to be in employment, have higher wages, and better wellbeing, and will be more able to progress to higher levels of free training to secure a skilled job in our economy.

This academic qualification will give you the knowledge and skills to move forward towards your goal.
Level 1 (Functional Maths) or GCSE grade 1-3

You will be interviewed and assessed for this course to ensure you are on the correct level.
· You will be assessed through a variety of assessment throughout the year including quizzes, discussions, peer assessment, displays, presentations, questioning and extended written work.

· There will be a final examinations at the end of the course.
On successful completion of this qualification, you can progress onto:

· On successful completion of functional maths level 2, you will have the opportunity to progress onto to GCSE maths to improve your grade if required.
