ESOL Step up to Skills 1
Course content & format
This course spans six weeks with students attending twice a week. You will learn through a variety of teaching methods which will aim to meet the needs of each individual and accommodate different learning styles for example, group work, practical work, basic writing and interactive activities.
This course will lead to improved confidence and awareness in various social settings and services within the local community. Learner will visit places in the local area to broaden their understanding of the importance of communities and what we can access within local communities. This course will also enable learners to be more aware of the road safety, build up confidence and self-esteem to explore their communities.
Your learning experience
This course will support students to improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills needed to live and integrate into living in Britain.
Encourage taking part in group discussions by asking questions and learning key question words.
Practice making requests using 'want' and 'would like' in positive, negative and question forms to improve spoken language skills.
Improve your ability to write simple sentences by practicing the use of 'there is' for singular nouns and 'there are' for plural nouns, focusing on sentence construction, pronunciation, spelling and grammar.

What can I do next?
After successful completion of this course, you will be able to move onto the next ESOL pre-entry course, which is ESOL Step up to Skills 2, which will give you the skills to possibly move onto an ESOL qualification, further learning in the community or employment.
