Level 1 Carpentry & Joinery - Evening (Jan)
Course content & format
This programme is the first step to gaining a qualification in the Construction Industry, specifically in the role of Carpenter or Joiner
The course covers the following units:
Carpentry and joinery skills
Clear and store carpentry and joinery tools and equipment
Health and safety in construction trades
Prepare to carry out carpentry and joinery
Working and communicating effectively in construction trades
Your learning experience
An Individual Learning Plan will be designed for your needs
You will work with the latest industry tooling as used by Carpentry & Joinery specialists including Festool, Hitachi, Maple, Stanley & Felder.
On completion of your course, you will learn essential carpentry skills such as scribing skirting board, cutting architrave, chopping in hinges as well as chopping out for locks and fitting basic door furniture.
Entry qualifications
Learners must have;
4 GCSE’s grade D – G 0r 1 -3 (Must include English and maths)
Successful interview with a Carpenter or Joinery tutor
A genuine interest in the subject
Good communication skills
A hardworking approach towards the industry

If you meet the unemployed* criteria or are employed^ where the earnings threshold applies, and you need to study at Entry or Level 1 to progress to Level 2, tuition fees will be waived.
