What You’ll Learn

You’ll complete four essential units that combine both practical and theory-based learning. These are taught by experienced industry professionals in our state of the art, commercial salon, giving you real-world experience from day one.

Units you'll study:

· Health and Safety in the Salon

· Client Consultation

· Cutting Men’s Hair

· Cutting Facial Hair

Alongside your technical training, you'll build key employability skills, including:

· Customer care and communication

· Teamwork

· Professionalism

· Numeracy and literacy

You will also get the opportunity to take part in trips, industry seminars, and competitions to deepen your knowledge and creativity.

To boost your confidence and job-readiness, you'll gain hands-on experience with paying clients in our commercial salon.

There will be allocated home study for you to prepare for theory exams for each unit. Specialist teachers will guide you with this and develop your self-study skills.

Before starting, you’ll need to purchase a salon uniform and a professional barbering kit. Financial support may be available if you need help with the cost.
To pass the course, you’ll need to complete all units through:

· Practical assessments

· Online exams

· Written assignments

Each unit is graded Pass, Merit, or Distinction.
After completing this qualification, you can progress to:

· Level 3 Certificate in Barbering (Part-time)

· Level 1 or 2 Hairdressing (Part-time)

· Employment in a barbershop or salon

  • If you meet the unemployed* criteria, or earn less than £25,000 annual gross salary, tuition fees will be waived.
  • If you do not meet the unemployed criteria, or you earn more than £25,000 annual gross salary, tuition fees are payable
