Level 1 Introduction to Sport
Course content & format
The Level 1 Diploma in Sport is designed around practical skills and tasks that place an emphasis on learners demonstrating what they can do and what they know in theory. The qualification gives you the opportunity to acquire and develop generic, transferable and sector-specific skills in order to complete tasks and demonstrate a level of achievement that enables them to progress to further learning. You will complete various units over the year of study that will ensure you have the ability to plan, deliver and review sports sessions. You will look at career pathways and have the opportunity to develop your Maths and English skills.
In addition to the core subject knowledge you will complete essential work placement activities that will provide you the opportunity to put all your skills into practice. This is a compulsory element of the programme as we pride ourselves in ensuring our learners have real-work experience in order to move seamlessly into employment or Higher Education.
Your learning experience
If sport is your passion and you enjoy working with others this is the course for you. We want young people willing to try new activities, wanting to build their confidence and aspire to work in the sport sector. You will be taught by several tutors with real life sports experience and a Progress Tutor who will specifically look after your pastoral and study programme needs. Assessment involves a range of methods including group discussions, posters, report writing,
presentations, photographic& video evidence, and a range of practical and outdoor assessments. There is currently no formal exam with this course.
Entry qualifications
3 GCSEs grade 1 or above.
How is this course assessed?
You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods including discussions, displays, case studies, presentations, extended written work and practical assessments whilst in class, through virtual environments and on work placements. There are no external exams however you must be willing to give permission for photographic & video evidence be used and shared with the awarding body.
This is a graded course where you can achieve a Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*

On successful completion of this qualification you can progress onto:
