Introduction to Video Editing (Adults) (Jan)

This 12-week evening course introduces adult learners to the fundamentals of video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro. Through hands-on projects and guided tutorials, learners will gain confidence in creating and editing professional-quality video content. The course is ideal for beginners looking to develop digital media skills for personal projects, creative portfolios, or professional use. The course starts on Wednesday January 14th 2026 6pm-8pm at our Clarendon Campus

Throughout the course, you will complete tasks including Learners will complete a short-edited video project demonstrating their technical and creative understanding of video editing techniques. Ongoing tutor feedback will support development throughout the course:

●  Capture and Organise Video Footage: Gain an understanding of how to shoot, import, and manage your video clips efficiently to prepare for editing.

●  Fundamentals of Video Editing: Develop technical confidence in trimming, sequencing, and combining footage to create smooth, engaging narratives.

●  Creative Use of Sound and Music: Learn to balance dialogue, ambient sound, and music tracks to enhance the mood and storytelling of your videos.

●  Visual Effects and Titles: Apply transitions, motion graphics, and on-screen text to give your projects a professional finish.

●  Colour Correction and Grading: Refine the visual style of your videos by adjusting colour, brightness, and tone to create cinematic results.

●  Exporting and Sharing Projects: Understand export settings and formats for online platforms, presentations, or personal use. This course combines hands-on practical sessions, in-class discussions, and individual feedback to ensure a rewarding and engaging learning experience.
This course is perfect for adults looking to explore a new creative hobby or gain confidence in editing videos for personal, social media, or small project use.

Learners will complete a short-edited video project demonstrating their technical and creative understanding of video editing techniques. Ongoing tutor feedback will support development throughout the course. This is a pass/fail course designed to give you practical skills and creative confidence. A college certificate will be awarded for those who pass.
On successful completion of this course, you can progress onto:

●  Higher-level Creative Media or Video Production courses.

●  Freelance or hobbyist video projects for personal or online platforms.

●  Applying your skills in related areas, such as social media content creation, marketing, or digital storytelling.

-Not in paid employment and receive means tested benefit: please bring with you current dated benefit documentation.
