Level 2 in Bookkeeping AAT (Part Time Day)

1) Introduction to Bookkeeping

This unit provides students with an understanding of manual and digital bookkeeping systems, including the associated documents and processes. Students will learn the basic principles that underpin double-entry bookkeeping systems.

Percentage contribution of this unit to the overall qualification grade: 50%.

2) Principles of Bookkeeping Controls

This unit builds on the knowledge and skills acquired from studying Introduction to Bookkeeping and explores control accounts, journals and reconciliations. Students will develop the ability to prepare the value added tax (VAT) control accounts as well as the receivables and payables ledger accounts. They'll use the journal to record a variety of transactions, including the correction errors. Students will be able to redraft the initial trial balance, following adjustments.

The AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting is an ideal starting point for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accountancy or finance. You will develop skills in double-entry bookkeeping and will understand how to use journals, control accounts and a trial balance.

You will also learn how to use an accounting software package, how to process financial information in accordance with company procedures and schedules, and how to provide information to colleagues, suppliers and/or customers.
You are expected to have achieved GCSE Maths Grade 4/C or above; GCSE English Language at grade 4/C or above is desirable.
When you're studying an AAT qualification your knowledge and skills will be tested via computer-based assessments (CBAs).

All AAT qualifications are evaluated through externally marked exams conducted at our AAT exam centre.

They are wholly computer marked, and so results will be available automatically.
The accountancy skills developed by studying this qualification will enable a student to seek employment with confidence and/or to progress to the next level of learning. This qualification can lead to further study in bookkeeping or accountancy or to employment as:

●  Clerical Assistant

●  Trainee Bookkeeper

●  Accounts Clerk

●  Finance Assistant

●  Accounts Administrator.

The accountancy and finance knowledge developed in this qualification is also the underpinning knowledge needed for the higher-level accountancy and financial skills developed in the AAT Advanced and Professional Accounting Qualifications: Level 3 AAT Bookkeeping and Level 2 AAT Accounting.
