Level 2 Plumbing - Evening

This course provides the practical skills and underpinning knowledge required to begin a career in the plumbing industry. It is based on the City & Guilds Level 2 Technical Diploma in Plumbing Studies (8202) and is designed to develop your ability to install, maintain and repair domestic plumbing systems in line with industry standards.

Units covered include:

●  Health and safety in a construction environment

●  Principles of plumbing science

●  Cold water systems

●  Hot water systems

●  Central heating systems

●  Sanitation systems

●  Above ground drainage

Training takes place in purpose-built workshops and classrooms, combining hands-on practical work with theory sessions to build your confidence and competence in plumbing tasks.
This course is ideal if you enjoy practical work and are looking to start a career in plumbing or progress within the construction industry.

●  Train in industry-standard workshops using professional tools and equipment

●  Develop skills in installing pipework, fittings, and domestic plumbing systems

●  Learn fault finding, maintenance and repair techniques

●  Gain an understanding of plumbing science and system design

●  Work with experienced tutors with industry background

●  Take part in employer engagement, guest speakers and site visits where available
●  4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above

●  Level 1 Plumbing qualification

You will be interviewed for this course and should demonstrate an interest in practical work, theory learning, and a commitment to health and safety.
●  Externally set and marked knowledge exam (2 attempts only)

●  Practical assignments assessed internally and externally verified

●  Assessments include:

- Theory exam which is dated by the City and Guilds and must be attended in the day

- Practical skills synoptic assignment (Externally Moderated)

●  All assessments are graded Pass/Fail, Merit, Distinction

●  You must pass all components to achieve the full qualification
After completing this course, you could progress to:

●  Level 3 Plumbing qualification (if available)

●  Plumbing Apprenticeship

●  Employment in the construction industry as a trainee plumber

If you meet the unemployed* criteria, or are employed^ where the earnings threshold applies, or are aged 19-23 and you don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSE’s at grade 4 (C) or above, tuition fees will be waived.
